National 3D Printing Competition for Teachers and Students
3D Printing, Design, and Thinking

Understanding objects with complex geometry and their calculations is a relatively hard undertaking for many students. 3dprinting technologies not only help students in better understanding the geometry of objects but also could strengthen creative thinking and problem-solving abilities in students. Repeated design, constructions, correction, and re-design, will results in a better understanding of the constraints of realizing a design as well as a better and earlier recognition of objects which could be designed but could not be constructed. Beside a deeper three dimensional perception of objects, this process will help the students in mastering the rational reasoning, creative thinking and problem-solving.

3D printing is one of the key instrument in the STEM program, where learning can turn into a game. Free imagination is the greatest talent of children. With the help of this imagination, they can design and print intricate shapes. The computer-aided design modules in 3d printing software packs, design starts with the simplest three-dimensional structures and moves slowly toward complex spatial geometries. This is how the abstract imagination turns into reality.

In this regard, the  National 3D Printing Competition for teachers and students will be held in conjunction with the second 3d printing event. The following topics are being considered for this contest.
Teachers Competition: Design and Construction of Teaching Aids
Students competition:
Primary school: Building a catapult
High school: Design and Construction of a light weight bridge with high flexural and compressive strength.

The second nation-wide event, which is to be held on December 14th-16th, 2018, aims to assess and aggregate existing capacities and establish a professional network between the players of this field. This event will be supervised and managed by the Advanced Materials Council (AMC) of Vice-Presidency of Science and Technology in three sections. Considering the growing trend of this technology in the country and the attention of the academic and research centers, this year's event will include a conference section. This is in addition to the previously announced exhibition and competition. Along with the event, keynote speeches will be delivered by lead scientists and technologists and the 3D printing contest, specially designed for teachers and students will be held at the same site.
